1947-1951 Chevy Truck Push Button Conversion - Altman Easy Latch™
Part Number: AEL-CT4751/PBCONV
Fits: 1947–1951 Chevy Trucks using 1952–1954 Push-Button Style or KinDig Exterior Handles
Designed specifically for 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, and 1951 Chevy trucks that have been converted to use either 1952–54 Chevy truck push-button exterior handles or aftermarket KinDig push-button style handles.
This Altman Easy Latch™ kit is engineered to provide the correct latch interface required for push-button style handle operation, including both OEM-style 1952–54 handles and KinDig handles that utilize a push/paddle mechanism.
Factory 1947–51 Chevy truck latches are not compatible with push-button or paddle-style handles due to their original turn-down handle design. To solve this, this kit includes the 1952–54 style Altman Easy Latch, which provides the necessary push-button actuation required for proper handle operation.
This configuration combines a 1952–54 push-button compatible latch mechanism with 1947–51 specific jamb plates, striker plates, and mounting hardware to ensure proper fitment within the original 1947–51 cab and door structure.
Important: This kit does not include exterior door handles or handle installation hardware. It is designed to function with either 1952–54 OEM-style push-button handles or KinDig handles installed separately.
All components are zinc plated for corrosion resistance, with case-hardened internal claws for long-term durability.
Each kit includes everything needed for two doors: push-button compatible latches (52–54 style), 1947–51 specific jamb plates, striker plates, stainless steel striker bolts, templates, hardware, and detailed instructions.
The result is a smoother, more secure, and consistent door closing experience for trucks converted to push-button handle operation.
Common Problems
- Incompatibility between push-button handles and factory 1947–51 latch systems
- KinDig handles will not actuate factory latch mechanisms
- No internal push/paddle interface for handle operation
- Doors will not latch or open properly after handle conversion
- Excessive rattling due to improper latch engagement
- Doors require slamming or fail to close consistently
Solution: Upgrade to the Altman Easy Latch — a rotary claw system configured with a 1952–54 push-button interface, allowing proper operation of both OEM-style and KinDig push-button handles on 1947–51 Chevy trucks.
